Shenzhen Hosts the Oretical Seminar on Experience and Lessons on Governance by Big 、Old Political Parties Overseas

On theoccasion of a Party-wide studying campaign on Party history to mark the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Shenzhen Reform and Opening Up Executive Leadership Academy hosted a theoretical seminar on the “Experience and Lessons on Governance by Overseas Political Parties with 100 Years of History” on March 24.

Party chief andexecutive vice president of the academy Chen Min delivered a speech at the welcoming ceremony of the seminar, which was hosted by Chen Jiaxi, the academy’s vice president.

Some 20 experts and scholars from relevant ministries, scientific research institutes and universities, such as Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law and Fudan University, exchanged their views and insights at the seminar on the experience of how some big, old political parties overseas stay in vitality, and on their lessonsabout governance.

All of the experts attending the seminar agreed that it was important to choose some overseas political parties with long history and representations for case studies, and conduct in-depth research on their exploration efforts, experience and lessons from governance at a time when the CPC is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its establishment. They said it will be of great benefit to us in dealing with new challenges under new circumstances.

It was pointed out at the seminar that it is crucial to stay goal-oriented when conducting thorough research on big, old overseas political parties governing their countries to produce impressive research results. It was also stated that it is necessary to grasp the internal rules of country governance of these big, old parties, and to sum up their experience and lessons from a variety of aspects including the guiding ideology, ruling ideas and self-improvement when exploring the laws regarding party construction. It is also necessary to conduct theresearch in an innovative manner, making bold explorations on the latest materials through a number of methods such as comparative research and data analysis. It is important to enhance the political nature of the research, enhance the foresights and pertinence of policy recommendations, and put forward practical, effective measures.

We will make a written report based on the results of the seminar, and apply the research results in Party history learning and education.

Shenzhen Reform and Opening Up Executive Leadership Academy was approved by the Guangdong Provincial Committee of CPC on June 23, 2020, and officially inaugurated on November 2, when the city was marking the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. By making advantages of experience and achievements in reform and opening up Shenzhen Special Economic Zone has made over the past 40 years, the academy will undertake thorough research on, elaborate on and promote the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics For a New Era, and cultivate high-caliber cadres and talents for the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and building Shenzhen into a pilot demonstration zone of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and for the national reform and opening up, as well as the country’s socialist modernization. The academy aims to tell Shenzhen stories, Guangdong stories and China stories well, to better fulfill the mission of serving as “two important windows.” The academy strives to lead the organizations of the kind in the country by creating an innovative, open and international teaching platform.
