MOU signed to further cooperation

Shenzhen Reform and Opening Up Executive Leadership Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hong Kong U Space in Hong Kong on June 26, 2023, just five days before the 26thanniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland.

The two learning institutions separately based in Shenzhen and Hong Kong will join hands and further cooperation in terms of public servants training, diploma education, curriculum design, scientific research, international conference, resource sharing and many other fields.

According to the World Competitiveness 2023, Hong Kong continued to be one of the most competitive economies in the world. The special administrative region’s competitiveness is underpinned by its distinctive institutional strength under “one country, two systems”. Such an arrangement helps Hong Kong to leverage staunch support of the motherland while staying closely connected with the world. “Hong Kong U Space has done a lot during the the past decades to sharpen the competitive edge of Hong Kong. With the mission to develop lifelong learning opportunities for the society, it has turned out to be a leading international educational institution, providing professional and high-quality continuing education to Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and even the Asia Pacific region”said William Lee, director of Hong Kong U space at the signing ceremony.

Shenzhen is the pace-setter of China’s reform and opening up to the outside world, the “pioneering demonstration zone”in the new era and an important engine of the greater bay area. “As a newly sponsored leadership academy based in Qianhai, Shenzhen, we focus on the era of reform and opening up. Being based in Shenzhen, serving the country and facing the whole world, we highlight practical training, case study, international communication and strive to create an innovative, inclusive and international teaching platform, practice base and a two-way display window, not only for China to show herself to the world, but also for the whole world to watch China closely,”said Haitao Dong, vie-president of the leadership academy at the signing ceremony.

Served as dual engines in the greater bay area, the twin cities of Hong Kong and Shenzhen are connected with a narrow stray of water, This year, frequent visits by top leaders from the two cities have sent a strong signal to the outside world for further cooperation. The joining hands between Shenzhen Reform and Opening UP Executive Leadership Academy and Hong Kong U Space is also a vivid reflection of the tow cities’ long-term and strategic partnership.
