Academy enhances ties with B&R country

Invited by China--IMF Capacity Development Center (CICDC), Dong Haitao, vice-president of Shenzhen Reform and Opening Up Executive Leadership Academy, gave an English speech to a delegation from Ethiopia On December 18, 2023.

Dong told the guests that GDP of Shenzhen has increased from 270 million yuan in the year of 1980 to 3.24 trillion yuan in 2022, increased by more than 10000 times. He briefed the guests the development history of Shenzhen from the initial stage of processing industries in the 1980s, to manufacturing, then to smart manufacturing and now boasting its own emerging strategic industries and future industries. Dong also explained the main reasons why Shenzhen was chosen as China's first special economic zone in 1980 and why the city can get success.

Led by vice-president of the Ethiopian Central Bank, the  delegation is composed of senior officials from the African nation's central bank and its stock exchange. Delegation members visited first-tier Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen in a week and is specially impressed by the quick development of the special economic zone during the past 40 years.

China attaches great importance to its relations with Belt and Road Initiative countries, especially those African countries. As an important African nation, Following the suit of China, Ethiopia has recently set up its own free trade bond areas and a special economic zone.

As an open, inclusive and international institution for the training of government officials, Shenzhen Reform and Opening Up Executive Leadership Academy will put more emphasis on international communication and its cooperation with African nations along the Belt and Road Initiatives in the future.
