Introduction

Approved by the Standing Committee of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC on May 9, 2020 and the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC on June 23, 2020, the Shenzhen Reform and Opening Up Executive Leadership Academy, officially inaugurated on Nov. 2, 2020, is an academy providing reform and opening up-themed education and training to cadres.

Our missions: To study, interpret and publicize Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, a contemporary Chinese Marxism and 21st century Marxism; to cultivate cadre talents for China’s reform and opening up and its socialist modernization, the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the building of Shenzhen into a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics; to better share with the world the stories of China, Guangdong and Shenzhen, and to further enhance Guangdong’s role as “two important windows,” namely an important window for China to showcase to the world the achievements and continuance of its reform and opening up, and an important window for the global society to observe China’s reform and opening up.

Our principles: To adhere to the leadership of the Communist Party of China so as to progress on the right track; to focus on the theme of reform and opening up so as to serve the best interests of the country; and to insist on innovating so as to continue forging ahead into the future.

Our characteristics: With reform and opening up as our focus and Shenzhen’s experiences in reform and opening up as our primary resources, we have formulated a cadre education and training model integrating moral education, ideological education, knowledge learning, ability training and practical exercise with an emphasis on real case studies and practices. By inviting policymakers to introduce the policies and by inviting witnesses of the reform and opening up to share their stories, we aim to provide the best education to the cadres to help them improve their overall qualities as Party members.

Based in Shenzhen and serving the country with an aim to go global, the academy strives to build an innovative, open and international teaching platform, practice base and achievement demonstration window.
